Who Is Chancy & Bruce?
Chancy and Bruce was founded in the early 1980s as a unique service to help parents and educators understand the developmental process for learning and the importance of making good decisions regarding school readiness.
We specialize in the developmental assessment of children, parent education, staff development, and prescriptive intervention. Our specialized Developmental Kindergarten program uses decades of educational experience with thousands of educators and students all focused on the whole-child.
The founders have extensive backgrounds in the field of Early Childhood Education and advanced degrees in Special Education, Assessment of Young Children, and Learning Disabilities. Longitudinal Research is conducted continuously to validate Developmental Milestones in children for our DK program and appropriate recommendations given to parents and educators.
What is the Chancy and Bruce Developmental Kindergarten Program?
For over 40 years Chancy and Bruce has specialized in school readiness and appropriate developmental skills support for students entering Kindergarten. Our Developmental Kindergarten program is for kindergarten-age students (ages 4-5) wherein there is a specific focus on social-emotional development through play and exploration, allowing for an extra year of readiness for academic success. This customized approach gives children “the gift of time” to build the foundation to learn and retain rather than struggle and regress. In addition to the social-emotional focus, our emphasis is on a developmentally appropriate curriculum focusing on 10 specific pathways to maximize the platform for learning as they enter kindergarten. This bonus year, referred to as “the gift of time” promotes educational success by focusing on a researched child-based curriculum.
The program incorporates activities and initiatives that encourage positive social interactions and emotional intelligence, helping children to develop crucial skills that are essential for their overall well-being and learning journey.
What makes DK unique and different from a traditional Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is our intentional emphasis on social-emotional development rather than just the academics. Chancy and Bruce's DK program allows children to organically grow through 10 specific pathways engaging in play and exploration activities.
